Jay Aaron Kinder Obituary
Jay Aaron Kinder was born on February 9, 1965 in Ridgecrest, CA to Bill and Jean Kinder. A resident of Boron, CA until the age of 18 after which he moved to Bakersfield in 1983 and in 1985 met the love of his life, Michelle Boswell through the Carl's Jr. drive thru on White Lane and Stine Road. Jay and Michelle married in 1991 and became the proud parents to Daniel, a senior at UCLA; Sarah, a sophomore student at CSUB pursuing nursing; and Emily a junior at Liberty High School. Jay started his career in the oil industry with a small contractor company, Hicks Construction. He later went to work for Unocal in 1986, which he often referred to as his "dream company job". In 1996, Jay went to work for Occidental Petroleum as an operator in the Kern Front oilfield. He went back to school and earned an Associate Degree in Petroleum Technology from Taft College. The last position Jay held was HES Advisor at Vintage Production, LLC. Jay loved fly-fishing, camping, eating at Frugatti's, genealogy, but most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Jay loved his wife and children and continued his battle with Brain Cancer with the utmost faith in God for five years. Jay will be most remembered for his willingness to share with others especially those less fortunate and his witty sense of humor. Jay was able to donate his corneas, pericardium, skin, bone and tissue to One Legacy, a non-profit organ donation organization.
Jay will remain in the hearts of his loving wife, Michelle; son, Daniel; daughters, Sarah and Emily; sisters, Toni (Michael) Miller of Thousand Oaks, CA and Karen (Greg) Storie of Lubbock, TX; Half-sisters, Cynthia and Rebecca Sue Kinder; Step-sisters, Jane (Don) Forester of Riverside, CA; Sharon (Bill) Thomas of Sullivan, IN; Step-brothers, Steve Schriver of Indianapolis, IN, Jim (Kathy) Schriver of Anaheim, CA, Eugene (Debbie) Brown of Boron, CA, and Arlin (Tammy) Brown of California City, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jay is preceded in death by parents, Bill and Jean Kinder, step-parents, Millard and Helen Brown, step-brother, Duane Brown, and nephew, Joshua Newton.
The Kinder Family would like to give a special thank you to Sandy Bradley, RN and Jennifer of Optimal Home Health Services; Dr. Jennifer Black of Hospice and Palliative Care at Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Abhay Risbud of Oncology at Kaiser Permanente, and the entire Oncology staff at Kaiser Permanente especially Marilyn, Maribel, Lisa, LVN, Young, RN, Roger, RN, Molly, RN and Robin Bunyan of Social Services for the most caring and compassionate care a patient could have.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, February 20, 2015 at 2:00pm at Christ the King Catholic Church 1800 Bedford Way, Bakersfield, CA 93308. A reception will immediately follow in McGovern Hall.
