Jerry Marvel Obituary

Jerry Don Marvel Jr. "Jer - Jer" September 22, 1980 - December 23, 2009 Jerry, a wonderful and fun loving young man died suddenly and unexpectedly the evening of December 23. He was born in West Covina, CA and resided for 21 years in Bakersfield, CA until his untimely death. During his high school years he played roller and ice hockey for multiple organizations. He was a 1998 graduate of Bakersfield High School. After high school Jerry enrolled, attended and graduated from the Bakersfield Fire Academy in Summer of 2001. However, Jerry found his career calling as a "Quality Control Supervisor" at Structure Cast for the past two years. A job that he was proud of and sincerely enjoyed. Jerry had a genuine passion for the sport of "NASCAR". A loyal and dedicated fan of Dale Earnhardt Senior and Junior. Most weekends he could be found watching a race, camping, fishing, snow boarding, jet skiing, quad riding at Pismo, karaoke, playing a competitive game of pool, usually a cold "Budweiser" beer in hand along with his family and friends. Koda and Rowdy; his beloved dogs that were always close in tow to join Jerry on all his fun filled adventures. Which usually included his high school friend, Joe Fuess and brother, Josh. His sparkling blue eyes, radiant smile, boisterous laugh, zany personality and quirky jokes made for a room or campfire full of laughter. His unique, charismatic, boyish charm is unforgettable to all that he loved and to those who loved him. His life gone too soon, just as his sister, Kathryn Ann's life was gone too soon. Jer-Bear has gone to join "big sis" to fly amongst the angels and the stars. Both are loved and greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn Ann Marvel; grandmother, Mabel Marvel; grandfathers, Roy Marvel and Frank Bassham; and a cousin, Jill Marvel. He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Kathy Marvel; grandmother, Irene Bassham; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Scott Frith; brother and companion, Joshua Marvel and Shannan Evans; sisters, Debbie Jenkins, Christal Richardson, and Sue Ford; nephews, Kyle, Kevin and Kory Frith, James Fennel, David Hess and Christopher Richardson; niece, Darlene Fennel; special uncles, Robert Marvel, James and Rick Bassham; special aunts, Jo Ann Winkelmaier, Carolyn Walker and Tammy Marsh; special cousins, Ryan Marvel, Jo Schrader, Joseph and George Winkelmaier, Laura Selph, Jimmy Jr. and Ricky Jr. Bassham and Justin Walker; plus an infinite number of relatives that shared in Jerry's life. Visitation will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary, on Panama Lane, January 4, 2010 between the hours of 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Services will be held at the same location on January 5, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel. It will be followed by a brief graveside service.

Aunt Kathy & Uncle Jerry,

I truly hurt for you both, and know that no words can ease your pain.

I just pray that in time you both can somehow find a way to be able to smile again knowing what wonderful people, Jerry Jr. & Kathryn were, and the happiness they brought to the people that were blessed enough to know them.

My hope is that Kathryn and Jerry Jr. are up in heaven holding my little Brad.

I love you all,
Kelly

Our hearts broke when we heard about junior. He always had a smile. One thing I know is that he got a lot of living in during his short time on this earth. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

The memories I have of Jerry on Buckaroo Ct, were definately spirited with fierce fun and boundless energy. I know the void will never be filled, but I hope there is comfort knowing he is with his Big Sis. What a wonderful reunion that must have been. They will be hard at work planning for your arrivals and what a party that will be!
May God bless you and grant you grace, comfort, love and peace.
"Army Goodell" is praying for you!
Love, Shelley, Tim, Callahan, Meghan, Tanner and Robert
