Jerry Lee Bassett Obituary
Jerry Lee Bassett passed away on January 12, 2015 on his seventy eighth birthday. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Paula Bassett, his children Debra Bassett, Jeff Bassett, Michelle Bassett, Dennis Clark and Shelly Inman. He is the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Johnny Bassett, Jill Mason and Jimmy Elder.
Jerry was born in Visalia, California in 1937. He attended North and East Bakersfield High schools where he was a standout in football, basketball and track. He joined the military where he was a paratrooper for the airborne special forces. After the service he worked at Wayne's Dairy in Bakersfield for nine years. He moved with his family to Oregon in 1973 where he started his own contracting business.
Jerry enjoyed rafting, boating and cheering on his grandchildren at all of their events. He loved meeting new people and volunteered many years in Oregon at the VA Dom, Britt Festivals and the Craterian. He was a hard working and giving man who will be missed by many.
There will be a graveside service in Jacksonville, Oregon.
