Jessamine "King" Fong Obituary
Jessamine was born in Chicago to Evelyn Don Sang and Walter Chan. After WWII on VE day she ventured to Bakersfield for a two week vacation, but ended up making it her permanent home. She married John Fong in 1949, and they then raised two sons. She was primarily a bookkeeper; her last job was at the YWCA of Bakersfield until retirement. She was a very compassionate and loving person who touched the lives of many people; also loved art, reading, learning, and had a passion for vegetarian cooking. Jessamine is pre-deceased by her husband and daughter-in-law Mariko Fong. She is survived by sons Gary and Glen (Yumi Moon), and granddaughters Jina (Blake McMillan) and Lisa.
Services to be held Wednesday July 9th, 10 AM at Doughty-Calhoun- O'Meara. Special thanks to the staffs at Optimal Hospice and Kaiser Permanente.
