Jesse Monroe Obituary
Jesse Monroe April 9, 1926 - October 31, 2013 Jesse Monroe was born in Bakersfield, April 9, 1926 to Jesse and Verge Monroe. He attended local schools. After graduating from East Bakersfield High School in 1944 he enlisted in U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Jesse served in both World War II and the Korean War. Following his military service he went to work for Kern County Fire Dept. holding the position of Captain until his retirement in 1982. Along with other activities he was a long time participant in AA where he helped many others along the way. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Edward, Leon, and Billy. Two of whom were also members of the fire department. He is survived by his wife Gay of 61 years, son and daughter-in-law John and Karin of San Francisco, daughter Laura and granddaughter Emily both of Plano, TX., and sister Geraldine of Bakersfield, also many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Optimal Hospice for making Jesse's last days so comfortable. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013, 3:00 PM at Trinity Anglican Church, 5500 Olive Drive ( use Mohawk St. Parking lot).
