Jesusita Alvarado Obituary
Jessie Alvarado "Hazel" was born April 17, 1920, to Juana and Ramon Fernandez in Bakersfield, CA. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1939 and married Joe Alvarado in 1940. They were married 44 years
before Joe's death in 1984.
Jessie worked in the Panama School District for 21 years, retiring at the young age of 78. She loved gardening and working outdoors, her recipes and cookbooks, and of course, chocolate.
Jessie is survived by her loving family of three sons, Sam (Norma), Alejo Leeko (Jerri), and Emil (Nancy); and three daughters, Pat (Ken), Beatrice (Andy), and Kathy. In all, 6 children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. Mom was a beautiful example of religious faith, generosity, and ingenuity. She was a kind and loving parent who raised a large and grateful family that now celebrates her wonderful life.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 31, 2014, at 9:00 a.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church, 900 H Street, with a Rosary prior to the service, beginning at 8:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis Youth Center Bldg.
