1930 - 2015 Obituary Condolences
Jimmy Lee Pierce was born March 18, 1930 in Checotah, OK; to Lee and Jessie Pierce. The family moved to Arvin, CA in 1936. He attended Arvin Elementary School and graduated in 1949 from Kern County Union High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951. Honorable Discharged in 1953, rank of Sgt. He then became employed by Peacock Dairy's as an IBM Supervisor and later was employed by Standard Oil Company. In 1955 he married Jeannette Goss and they had three daughters. Jim was a loving husband and a wonderful father who was always there, a true pillar of his family. Jim was appointed U.S. Postmaster of Lamont, CA by President John F. Kennedy and confirmed by Congress in July of 1962. He retired from the Post Office after 30 years of service.
He was active in numerous clubs and organizations, such as: KCCV Amateur Radio, Lamont Lion's, Lamont JC's, He was a reserve deputy and a member of the Lamont School Board. He enjoyed camping with a special group of friends and had many fun adventures. He was also an avid collector of antique insulators.
Preceded in death by: His parents Lee and Jessie Pierce, sister Doris Brown and husband Wesley, nephew Mark Brown, mother and father in-law Dr. and Mrs. Carrol Goss, and grandson Clay Farr.
He is survived by: Wife Jeannette of 59 years. Daughters: Carrol Lee Alderete and husband Anthony, Lori Salyards and husband Tim, and Lisa Pierce. Grandchildren: Chad Farr, Taylor Ann Alderete, Cody Salyards and wife Allyson, Courtney Brown and husband Dennis, and soon to be Great-Grandson June 2015. Nephew Randy Brown and wife Shannon. Also his precious dogs, Molly and Gabby.
