Jim was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to James Lawrence Andrews and Violet Rose McCann Andrews, who preceded him in death, along with the mother of his sons, Adrienne Andrews.
Jim attended Standard Elementary School and graduated from North High School, 1957. He played varsity football for the Stars.
He served in the U.S. Navy from March 4,1958 to May 4,1962. After separation from the Navy, he attended Bakersfield College and played Renegade Football. He was on the 1963 Metropolitan Conference Co-Champions team. For years, he had season tickets and when he couldn't attend games, he was glued to his radio, cheering them on.
Most of Jim's life he was an outside salesman, retiring from US Food Service.
He is survived by his loving wife, Terry; brother, Bruce Andrews (Karen) of Leslie, Arkansas; sons, Jason (Tessa) and Brent (Melissa); grandchildren Jake, Addison, and Iain; step-daughter, Sandy Akers (Bill); step-son, Steve Nelson and he was Papa Jim to Theresa and Nadine Akers.
Celebration of Jim's life will be Saturday, April 9th, 11:00 a.m. at Westside Church of Christ, 7300 Stockdale Hwy. Reception immediately following.
