1929 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
J.L. Hale Obituary

J.L. "Papa" Hale, 86 of Bakersfield CA passed on January 12, 2016. He was born on July 25, 1929 in Cowlington Oklahoma to his parents Nettie and John. J. is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Bobbie, daughter Kara, grandkids Chad and Tyler Skeels, great grandkids Cash and Ella. He is preceded in death by his daughter Susan.

Prior to marrying Bobbie, J spent a 4 year tour as a Navy Sea Bee stationed in faraway places, such as Kawajalane Island. Honorably discharged J., then established a 30 year career locally with Advanced Beverage. As a grandparent, J became the inspirational mentor of Chad and Tyler. At this point. J. became "Papa" to everyone, his license plate read "Papa Taxi," transporting all the young 'ins to baseball or football practice. He was crowned by Stockdale Mustangs Gridiron Club's appreciative team parents for his dedication to the team.

Soon after, Papa's family grew to include grandkids Danika and Chris with Kara's marriage to Dan Reddick and he added a daughter in law, Kelli, Tyler's beautiful wife. To no surprise, Papa and Bobbie provided the mortar to bond everyone together. As Papa he enjoyed kids, but as "J Bird" he enjoyed traveling across the US with Bobbie, fishing with buddies at Buena Vista and sharing good time's friends and the family.

Bobbie and Kara would like to extend a special thank-you to his caregiver Dana and all the doctors, nurses and aids at Brookdale.

Jay will be remembered for his wit, sense of humor, good will and most of all his loving heart. Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial on Saturday January 16, 2016 at 11:00am. Everyone he touched is encouraged to attend, a wake will follow at the Hale residence on Hallisey Court.
