John Baird Obituary
John was born in 1948 in Los Angeles and spent his formative years in Lancaster. Shortly before he turned 18 he enlisted in the Navy and he served honorably in Vietnam. He would go on to serve his state as a correctional guard and worked tirelessly for the California Correctional Peace Officer's Association. He retired after 30 years of service over a decade ago. While some might have known him as a bit abrasive, even crass, his friends new him as someone they could always count on. Whether it was the checker at the local supermarket or a long-time friend, he always tried to leave people with a smile or a laugh. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Gladys Baird. He is survived by his son James, daughter-in-law Carina, grandsons Aidan and Owen, his brother Philip, and his two dogs.
Services will be held at the Bakersfield National Cemetery on Monday February 17th at 10:45am followed by a gathering for family and friends at Hodels at noon.
