John Bruce Bell Obituary
John Bruce Bell, 60, of Long Beach, CA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in his home, surrounded by his devoted family. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, uncle, and friend to all who knew and loved him.
John was born in Tulare, CA, to Herb and Maxine Bell and lived in Pismo Beach until the age of 13, when the family moved to Bakersfield. He attended North High, University of New Mexico, and Cal Poly SLO. He spent many years working as a draftsman, general contractor, and building inspector for the City of Bakersfield. After moving to Long Beach in 2007, he reactivated his contractor's license and worked with his son Dillon. He loved that time in his life, working side by side with Dillon and teaching him the trade.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Denise; and their children, Dillon and Lauren; mother, Maxine; and his four siblings and their families.
John was passionate about everything in life, but fatherhood was his ultimate passion.
His daughter Lauren said on his birthday,
"Happy 61st birthday to my angel.
No time would have ever been enough with you.
I love you."
John was a role model for all who knew him. He was thoughtful, generous, kind, and loving. He had a quick wit and a wicked sense of humor, something he kept even in the darkest hours of his bat tle with cancer.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 27th, 10 a.m., St. Francis Parish, 900 H Street, Bakersfield, CA 93304.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UCLA Neuro-Oncology.
