John Coglin Satterlee October 06, 1923 to February 16, 2013 John was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Marie Coglin and Richard Covert Satterlee, M.D., where he was delivered by his paternal grandfather. Although he moved frequently, as his father was a naval pathologist, John primarily grew up in San Francisco. John graduated from Raenford Military School in Sherman Oaks, CA and attended San Francisco City College. In 1942 he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific theater. Upon discharge, he attended the University of San Francisco where he received his B.S in Biology and a M.S. in Chemistry. John was employed 27 years at Mercy Hospital as a biochemist and the Lab Director. He was a member of the Bakersfield Philatelic Society, the American Chemical Society, Bakersfield Community House and the 60+ Club at CSUB. John was predeceased by his parents, first wife, Jacqueline, son, Richard, sister Marie Barker and her husband Ed Barker. He is survived by his wife, Anne, daughter-in-law, Candace, two grandchildren, Kevin and Jennifer, Kevin's wife, Leah and their two children, Eliana and Owen, niece , Jean Bryant and nephew, Dick Bryant. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the University of San Francisco, 2130 Fulton Street, San Francisco, CA 94117
