John F. Staab Obituary
John F. Staab 1-19-1919 9-14-2013 John F. Staab, 94 of Bakersfield, passed away on September 14, 2013, after a battle with Alzheimer's. John Staab was born in Pittsburg, PA on January 19, 1919. John was the eldest of three children born to John and Francis Staab. He entered the US Navy in 1938 where he was a Gunner's Mate and a member of the Admiral's Shore Team until 1945. He was assigned to the USS New York and USS West Point during his tour of duty. In 1945 he established residence in the Los Angeles area where he met and fell in love with Lisa Panetta his wife of 52 years. John was a dedicated draftsman for Atlantic Richfield (ARCO) for 37 years. He was involved with church activities at St. Philips and was loved by his family and friends. John enjoyed playing the horses and good game of golf. John was accompanied on every adventure by his wife they included cruises, from Alaska to the Mediterranean, most of the European countries. Another favorite travel destination was Las Vegas or central valley casinos. John and Lisa enjoyed their lives and enjoyed their travels and were happy with what they accomplished in their lives. John is survived by his sister Virginia Parks of Palm Desert, son and daughter-in-law John and Vinda Staab, and granddaughter Shelby Staab. John is preceded in death by his wife Lisa who passed on July 31st, Mother and Father, John and Frances Staab, his sister Helen Cook. Visitation will be held at Greenlawn River Blvd on Tuesday Sept 24 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral service will be held at Greenlawn River Blvd Chapel on Wednesday Sept 25 at 2:00 pm with Fr. Hector Lopez officiating, followed by interment. Memorial donations may be made to Hoffman Hospice. Condolences may be left in John's online guestbook atwww.greenlawnmortuaryandcemetery.com.
