John Felix Schroeder Obituary
John was born in Wasco, California on September 4, 1923 to John Joseph and Barbara Schroeder. He ended his life's journey on June 29, 2014.
John was preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers: Clement, Henry, Al, Fritz, Gus, and Eddie and his sisters Josephine and Marie. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dixie; his son Eric and wife Nanette and their children Jessica, Elliot, and Jordan; his daughter Barbara Bell her husband Brad and their sons Jeremy, and Christopher and wife Desree and their sons Ryder and Bracen; his brother Leonard and wife Doris; sisters-in-law Florence Schroeder, Joan Schroeder, Pat Park and Mary Collup and many loving nieces and nephews along with countless friends and extended family who were blessed to know him and benefit from his love and gentle nature. He lived his life with integrity and commitment and his generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to his family.
John's life was centered around his family and his Catholic Faith. He was a devout and supportive member of St. Philip's parish in Bakersfield. But it was his desire to return to St. John's Parish in Wasco where his children were raised to celebrate the ending of this life and the beginning of a new one and to a church he considered home.
John enjoyed the sport of Pigeon racing and spent many years building his flock and participating in races. John was also an avid stamp and coin collector which reflected his interest in history.
John established Wasco Glass, Inc. in 1976. After 38 years, it is still a thriving family business managed by son Eric who employs his son Jordan. John not only took pride in his business but truly relished the friends he made during his time spent serving the community of Wasco. John touched the lives of many people with his smile and goodness, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. He was greatly loved and will be missed, terribly.
A celebration of John's wonderful life will be at a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St John's Catholic Church in Wasco on July 9, 2014 at 10am. Msgr. Perry will officiate the service and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
Donations may be made in John's name to the Wasco Community Scholarship Association, PO Box 7, Wasco, CA 93280. Arrangements are under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Wasco. Please send condolences to the family and sign John's guest book at www.GoldenValleyMemorialCare.com
