John L. Hinkle Obituary
John was born in Bakersfield and passed away in Klamath River, California.
John grew up in Bakersfield. He had a loving family and many friends. He excelled at sports, scholastics and fun. John played junior baseball for Floyd's, his dad, Bob Hinkle, and Larry Webb the coaches. He attended Foothill High, graduated in 1966, attended college and joined the Marine Reserves. He moved to the bay area and worked for BART.
In 1977 John bought the Eagle's Nest Golf Course and moved with his family to Klamath River, CA. He graduated from Western Culinary in Portland, and was Southern Oregon chef of the year. John owned Agave restaurant in Ashland, OR for the past ten years.
John is best described by those who knew him:
"John made everyone comfortable; always made me laugh; a true wit; an infectious smile; nonjudgmental; loved him like a brother; decades of good food and good times; never an unkind word to or about anyone; a dream boss; a good golfer; musician; host of unforgettable parties; a force of nature who lived life to the fullest; master of the work ethic, master of ceremonies; his loss is like going out at night and finding Orion missing from the sky."
John is survived by his mother Peggy "Cap" Hinkle of Roseburg, Oregon, his son Chip Hinkle, daughter-in-law Heidi Hinkle, grandson Joseph Hinkle and brother Robert Hinkle, all of San Luis Obispo, and his partner Kathryn Golden of Klamath River, California,
