bakersfield.com/obits John L Hubbard III 06/28/1946 - 12/01/12 John L Hubbard III was born on June 28, 1946 in Long Beach, Ca. He went home to be with the Lord on Dec 1, 2012. He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Glenny, foster parents Delos & Glenda Miller, sister Jackie Franco, and his son Johnny Hubbard. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Christine, son Joey, daughter Alicia Bourbon and husband, David, grandchildren, Ashley, Bryana, and Caitlin, and great grandchildren Tanner and Alexis. He also survived by his brother, Ed Sturman, plus numerous nieces and nephews. John worked for A&B Garment Carriers for 10 years; due to health issues his career path changed and he started working for Stinson's Stationers for fourteen years.Retiring from Stinson's in 1994 he began a new career as Mr. Mom, taking care of Joey. He did reading clinic at Stockdale Elementary school, and volunteer parent for Actis' junior high band. John volunteered his time as President of the board for the Society of Disabled Children and Adults. He was a member of the Elks, the Eagles and recently joined the Knights of Columbus and Foundation Board for Kern Regional Center. He loved golfing, bowling, traveling and going to Thirsty Thursday with his friends. John had a great sense of humor and always had a story or joke to tell. He will be missed by everyone he touched. Visitation for John will be Thursday, Dec 6, 2012 from 1pm to 8pm at Mission Family Mortuary, 531 California Ave. Funeral services will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Friday Dec 7, 2012. Rosary will be at 9:30am and Mass at 10am followed by graveside service at Greenlawn cemetery 3700 River Blvd.
