John S. Seibly, M.D. 1912 - 2012 Dr. John Seibly was born August 27, 1912, in Benton Harbor, Michigan and passed away at his home in Bakersfield on November 27, 2012. He retired from his medical practice at Bakersfield Medical group in 1981, where he had been a partner with two brothers, Robert Seibly, M.D. and Ralph Seibly, M.D.; and his brother-in-law, Ralph Burnett, M.D. for many years. He initially practiced as a country doctor in Mansfield, Washington before joining Dee Stoops, M.D. in Bakersfield in 1942. Dr. Seibly was a member of the Hillcrest Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He was a life member of the Al Malaikah Shrine Club and had been a philanthropic participant of the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children. For many years Doctor John had been a member of Bakersfield Country Club. Golf was one of his passions. In 1944, Doctor John volunteered for military service and by the end of that year he was on the front lines in Germany. He was discharged in 1946 as a Captain and recipient of the Bronze Star. Doctor John married Helen M. Burnett on July 19, 1934. They enjoyed raising four children. Helen passed away in 1983. Dr. John later married Kay Fendrick. Kay passed away in 2006. Dr. John is survived by his four children, J. Thomas Seibly and wife, Betty of Acampo, California, Geri Boles and husband, Gene of Bakersfield, Kent Seibly and wife, Cindy of Bakersfield, Kay Hussey and husband, Martin of Bakersfield; nine grandchildren, J. Gregory Seibly, Stephen Seibly, Jennifer Seibly, John Boles, Kristi Schumann, Kim Baglio, Kerri Seibly, Danelle Macias and Brandan Helzer; and 20 great-grandchildren. Dr. John is also survived by his brother, Ralph Seibly, M.D. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Seibly, M.D. Visitation will be held Friday, November 30, 2012, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd. A memorial service will be held on December 1, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2801 Bernard St. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Optimal Hospice, 1675 Chester Avenue.
