Johnie Ethel Savee, beloved mother, sister, and wife went peacefully to be with our Lord on Tuesday, April 29 at the age of 85 in Bakersfield, CA. She will live in our hearts forever. Johnie was born March 20, 1929 in Triune, Tennessee the fifth daughter of eleven children to John and Ethel (Snelling) Claiborne. She moved with her family to California in early 1954. She worked hard all of her life at various occupations such as waitress at Circle Dot Cafe, machine operator at Crown Zee, aircraft assembler at Douglas Aircraft, and assembling artificial heart valves. She retired as mail room supervisor at Metropolitan State Hospital, Downey, CA in 1992 and moved from Lakewood, CA to Bakersfield with her husband, Ken. After she lost her husband of over 30 years, Johnie resided at Florence Gardens for over fifteen years.
Her cheerful, kind, and generous nature, unique laughter, and infectious smile will be missed by all.Your loving family, who may be grieving, rejoices knowing you are with our Heavenly Father.
Johnie is survived by her daughter: Jana (Ron) Keen; her sons: Kerry Savee, Charles Shaterian Jr., and Crosby (Veronica) Shaterian; her grandchildren: Tara Keen, Derek Keen, Christine Shaterian, Savannah White, and Crosby (Rachel) Shaterian Jr.; her great grandchild: Rebecca Shaterian; her sisters: Ruth Neese, Georgia Erickson, Dorothy Morland, and Dixie Kemp; her brothers: Atha (Carol) Claiborne, Kenneth (Glenda) Claiborne, and Everette (Sue) Claiborne; her five step-children, and many, many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Newton Savee, her sisters Margaret Reynolds and Frankie Richardson, and brother Grady Claiborne.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Petro and Christine Crisostomo RN and their staff at Blue Pearl Home Care II for the loving care they provided over the past two years.
