Johnnie Mae Harris Obituary
Johnnie Mae Harris was born in Eufala, Oklahoma on May 8, 1924 to parents Dewey and Lena Graham. She married Truman Harris of Eufala, Oklahoma on May 30, 1941 and they moved to Lancaster, California that same year. Then later they moved to Lamont, California where they settled down to live their lives and raise their two children Loretta and Arnold.
She was a lifelong member of Lamont Assembly of God where she was a Sunday School Superintendent and Treasurer. Johnnie went to Beauty College where she obtained her Cosmetology license, and she owned and operated Modern Curl Beauty Shop in Lamont for many years. Johnnie and Truman invested in many properties. After 25 years she retired and she and Truman traveled extensively. After Truman passed away Johnnie continued to work in Real Estate and she continued to maintain her properties until her passing.
She enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. Places she visited include, Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, Alaska, New York City and many other placed around the United States.
She is preceded in death by her husband Truman Harris, mother Lena Graham, father Dewey Graham and one baby sister Gladine (10 months).
She is survived by her sister, Adlee Rule; daughter Loretta (Travis) Beller; son, Arnold (Ingrid) Harris; grandchildren, Brett Beller and Sean (Jamie) Harris; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Megan and Benjamin Harris along with various nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30th, from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Services will be held on Friday, October 31st, at 11:00am both at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
