Jose Aragon Sevilla Obituary
Bakersfield resident Joe Sevilla passed peacefully after a long illness.
Born in the Philippines he emigrated to the United States; graduated from College of the Pacific in Stockton in 1957, then joined the Army; in 1959 he was stationed in Korea; obtained a teaching credential in 1970; and in 1975 obtained his Masters from Cal-State College in Bakersfield; he was an educator for 30 years and taught at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and El Tejon Middle School. He was active in the community through school activities his children attended and also served as a past president of the Philippine Society of Bakersfield.
He is survived by daughter Tiffany Sevilla, son Jaime Sevilla, their mother Sussanne Sevilla, and other family.
The Samaritans and ProCare Hospice cared for him during his final days; Hillcrest Mortuary and Dignity Memorial handled the arrangements; St. Phillips recited prayers on his behalf; internment took place at the Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin.
He is fondly remembered as a father, teacher, and friend.
