Josephine Simos Chan June 6, 1963 - March 28, 2013 Josephine Simos Chan, 49, was called to be with the Lord, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 28, 2013. She was born on June 6, 1963, in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Statistics at the University of the Philippines. She has lived in California (Delano and Bakersfield) since May 1983 where she completed a Master's Degree in Business Administration. She worked as the Accounting/Office Manager for DM Camp & Sons for 23 1/2 years. Josephine was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as an AWANA Youth Group Leader, Deacon Board Treasurer, Women's Group Fellowship Member, and the Chinese Church Liaison and Young Adult Ministry Leader. As a parent, she was actively involved in providing classroom assistance and activities planning at the schools her children attended, Stockdale Christian School and Frontier High School. Josephine enjoyed skiing, camping, reading, traveling, sight-seeing, and spending quality time with family and friends. Most of all, she enjoyed being a wife to her loving husband and a mother to her beautiful children. Josephine was a beautiful person inside and out; her smile and contagious laugh could light up any room. She was an amazing role model, a leader, and a true pillar to the family and the community. She was a warm, caring, selfless individual who always made an impact with every person she came in contact with. She lived her life with no hesitation, filled with love and affection for all who knew her. Josephine will be forever remembered by her husband of over 15 years - Vidson Chan; their precious children - Audrey(14) and Cody(13); by her parents - Virgilio and Zenaida Simos; her two brothers - Virgilio Jr (Imelda) Simos, Danny (Jocelyn) Simos; and six sisters - Narita (Lito) Villena, Jean (Albert) Monje, Christine (Petro) Crisostomo, Imelda (Richard) Simos-Valdez, Elizabeth (Alex) Simos-Cantu, and Marilou (Genaro) Simos-Piza. Josephine will also be forever remembered by her nephews - Jovell, JV, John, Jerome, Danny Jr, DJ, Christopher, Donovan, Dean, Joshua; and nieces - Catherine, Jocelyn, Jennifer, Marife, Everly, Pauline, Alexandrea, Jonalyn, Ivy, Kaitlyn, Gabriella; and numerous extended family and dear friends. She is preceded in death by two brothers - Reynold and Christopher Simos. A celebration of Josephine's life will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 27th at 2:00 p.m. located at 1705 17th Street, Bakersfield, CA 93301. In lieu of flowers, a Josephine Simos Chan Memorial Scholarship fund has been set-up to benefit low-income and first generation college students.
