Josephine Zaragoza Espinosa was born February 17, 1926, in Bakersfield, CA. and went home to the Lord on November 3rd, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Cruz Espinosa; parents Odilon and Manuela Zaragoza; son Robert Espinosa (infant); sisters Mary Espinosa, Annie Martinez and brother Vincent Zaragoza. She is survived by sisters Angie Pinuelas and Trini Frausto; children Lawrence D. Espinosa, Susan M. Chavez, Robert R. Espinosa, Alfonso O. Espinosa and their spouses; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Josephine lived in Delano, CA, where she married and raised her family and was actively involved in community organizations promoting cultural awareness and social change. She had several mini-careers during her 62-year marriage, eventually retiring from the Delano Union School District. She had fond memories of family and friends who were dear to her heart. Josephine also had strong moral and spiritual convictions and conducted her life with pride and purpose.
Josephine was a loving spouse, mother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her. We all thank God for giving Josephine a long and blessed life and for the peace he has given her.
The family wishes to express our gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Visitation and Rosary will be held Thursday, November 10th from 8 a.m.- 9:30 a.m. at Delano Mortuary, 707 Browning Road, Delano, CA. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 916 Lexington St., Delano, CA.
