Joyce Burk Obituary

Joyce Burk, a longtime resident of McFarland, passed away peacefully, early Thursday morning, January 21, 2016, at her home, away from home, the Delano Skilled Nursing Facility.

Joyce and her husband, Welton, moved their family from Oklahoma to Earlimart in 1962. They lived there, until their move to McFarland in 1968.

Joyce was no stranger to hard work. Growing up, she lived the life of a migrant field worker, traveling to California, many summers, to work in the fruit. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker, and mother to her six children. In the 60's and early 70's, she served as the bookkeeper for her husband's automotive shop. It would be difficult to summarize her 90 years of life, in these few words.

Those who knew and loved Joyce, were inspired by her sweet spirit, and quiet devotion to others. She will be greatly missed.

Joyce, preceded in death, by her husband of 59 years, Welton, and her son, Bill. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Rogers of Phoenix Arizona, two brothers, Joseph Eason of Visalia, California, and DeWayne Eason of Three Rivers, California. Her daughter, Linda Guerrero of McFarland, four sons, Bob Burk of Broadway, Ohio, Ray Burk of Delano, California, Ken Burk of Nashville, Tennessee, and Allen Burk, of Ozark, Missouri. She leaves a legacy of 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be February 4, 2016, 11:00 A.M., at the North Kern Cemetery, in Delano. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Joyce Burk to the Delano Skilled Nursing Facility's "Resident Activity Fund", 1509 Tokay Ave. Delano, CA 93215.
