Joyce E. Reames was born July 6, 1946 in Springfield, Missouri, and went to be with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday afternoon, January 26, 2016. She lived here in Bakersfield for the past 46 years.
Her son had been helping to take care of Mrs. Reames for the past few weeks also died suddenly on Wednesday morning, January 27, 2016. He was just 40 years old. Cause of death is not known at this time. She was married to Rev. Leon D. Reames in August of 1970 and they were close to celebrating 46 years of marriage.
She leaves behind: Her father Owen Law of Bakersfield, her mother, Gladys Danelenko both of Bakersfield. Her husband, Rev. Leon D. Reames of Bakersfield. Two sisters, Diane Duppman of Bakersfield, and Sally Law of Cane, Pa. One daughter, Stacey Diane Nikodym and her husband, Gary. Three grandchildren; Wesley, Shaylee and Brady, Many nieces and nephews and great friends Joyce was a homemaker and a fulltime teacher in the GATE program of Bakersfield City Schools for 18 years. She was also a pastors wife, active church member and supporter of the ministry of her husband.
After early retirement she was plagued with several illness and had valley fever. Through all her pains she still keep a sweet attitude and a loving relationship with her family. She will be greatly missed.
There will be a Memorial Celebration at Grace Baptist Church, 2550 Jewetta on Saturday, January 30 at 10:30 for both Joyce E. Reames and her son, Scott D. Reames. Rev. Sid Peterson of Bakersfield will be officiating.
