Joyce Newkirk Williams Obituary
Loving wife of Walt Williams passed away peacefully at home in San Diego after a brief illness.
Walt and Joyce were long-time residents of Bakersfield, owning the local Red Wing Shoe Stores for over 50 years. They called several churches home during their time in Bakersfield including First Baptist, Calvary Bible and Valley Baptist. Square dancing, round dancing, cake decorating, stained glass, sewing and various handcrafts held Joyce's interest over the years and she was supportive of many local and international charitable organizations.
After retiring in 2010, Walt and Joyce moved to San Diego, where they found a great neighborhood and a wonderful church family at The Church in Rancho Bernardo.
Joyce is survived by Walt, her husband of 62 years; daughters Lynn Krikorian of Fresno and Cheryl London of San Diego; grandchildren Jennifer London Walavalkar and Bryan London of San Diego, and Philip and Kyle Krikorian of Fresno; great-grandchildren Alexandria Hunter and Grey, Logan and Marley Walavalkar; brothers Earl and Vance Newkirk of Southern California, many in-laws, nieces, nephews and loving friends. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Jeanne, and brother, Lyle.
Joyce was a one-of-a-kind, gentle soul, and she will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Silverado Hospice San Diego or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation. Please share your memories of Joyce at legacy.com.
