Juan Salazar Jr. Obituary
Juan Salazar, Jr. July 1, 2949 - July 3, 2012 Juan Salazar, Jr. was born July 1, 1949 in Parkin, Arkansas to Juan and Felicita (Gomez) Salazar. Although born in Arkansas, Juan lived in Phoenix, Arizona until the age of 20 when he came to Wasco as part of the expansion team for rose giant Jackson & Perkins. Juan worked for J & P until retiring in 1996. He knew all about roses and his favorite rose was the Samantha Rose, which is now the name of his granddaughter. When Juan wasn't out "smelling the roses", he could be found in the stands at any ball game he could get to - especially if it was a game his son was playing in. Juan's favorite teams were the Anaheim Angels and the Dallas Cowboys. He wasn't only a spectator; he played in several adult softball leagues. His other hobby took him out to the elements to fish and hunt locally with family and friends. Juan's love for his family and friends was expressed by his unwavering knack for giving everyone a nickname. You knew you were in with Juan when you were given a nickname and you knew you were in with the rest of the family when they called you by that nickname. Juan Jr. is preceded in death by his father, Juan L. Salazar; and sisters, Gloria Salazar and Graciela Contreras. He is survived by his wife, Luz Berenice Landeros; son, Rene Salazar and partner Liz Salinas; daughter, Melissa Salazar; mother, Felicita G. Salazar; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Sylvia Salazar; brothers, Albert and Roger Salazar; sister and brother-in-law, Maria T. and Juan Gonzalez; sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Richard Juarez; sister, Margaret Salazar; sister, Rosa Romo; 14 grandchildren, as well as numerous other family members and friends. Juan Salazar, Jr. passed away at the age of 63 on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Bakersfield, California. Visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home in Wasco on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 2 to 8 p.m. with the rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wasco on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Wasco Cemetery.
