Juanita Jean Crosby Obituary
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, at 10:30am at Wasco Memorial Park for Jean Crosby, age 87, of Santa Maria who passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Santa Maria. Pastor Ken Hosman of the Oildale Missionary Baptist Church will officiate the service and interment will follow.
Jean accepted Jesus as her Savior at the age of 9-years old and served the Lord working in his church all her life. She was a member of the Shafter Missionary Baptist Church.
Jean was born in Burkett, Texas June 25, 1927 and at the age of 10-years old her family moved to Odessa, Texas. Seven years later she met Robert Crosby who was in the Air Force stationed at Odessa, Midland Air Terminal. They were married on April 21, 1945. After Robert was discharged from the service, they moved to Wasco, California where they spent the rest of their lives. Robert passed away September 22, 1988. Jean was a homemaker and loved her hobbies; sewing, crocheting, arts and crafts and oil painting. Most of her friends and relatives have one of her paintings hanging in their homes. She worked for K-Mart in Bakersfield for 24 years.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Peggy Sue and husband Chuck Weyant of Santa Maria, California. Jean was preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Tabor and Jackie Stroud, both of Texas; parents, Charlie and Roberta Cason of Texas; and granddaughter, Buffy Balentine.
