Judith Gayle Borden Schackmann Obituary
Judith Gayle Borden Schackmann April 3, 1944 - June 29, 2012 Judith Gayle Borden Schackmann was born in Bakersfield, California to Oral Herman Borden and Alta Virginia Allison Borden on April 3, 1944. She suffered a heart attack at home on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the age of 68 and died one week later on Friday, July 6th, 2012. In 1968, after devious plotting on her sister and mother's [art, she met and later married Tom Schackmann in a simple ceremony in an Assembly of God Church on Niles St. in East Bakersfield in November of that year. They were married almost 44 years. On December 22, 1971 Judy and Tom were blessed with a healthy baby boy that they named Evan Dean. The naming was a tussle, one wanted Dean, the other Evan and their son was grateful he was unsaddled with an inadvertent tribute to the Rat Pack. Judy worked for Bank of America for 36 years starting out at the Bakersfield Main branch as a check filer in 1962 and retiring an Operations Officer at the Calwa branch in Fresno in 1998. Judy was a hard worker and was one to never quit on anything until it was completed. As her friends and family can attest, she just wouldn't slow down until a job was properly done. In the end this proved too much for her weakening health, but she knew no other way to live. She was a friend to just about everyone she met and was very kind hearted toward people and animals. She loved her cats and saved many an abandoned kitten by hand feeding it until it was able to eat on it's own. her gentle and kind nature shone brightest in these instances. She was committed Christian and now she is at peace with God in Heaven. She was preceded in death buy her mother and father and most of her aunts and uncles and several cousins. She is survived by Tom her husband, her son Evan, sisters Dena and her husband Karl of Modesto, Jennifer and her husband Tom of Bakersfield, and Bert, her brother with whom she was very close who also lives in Modesto. She is also survived by an aunt in Missouri and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved very much. A graveside service will be held at Clovis' main cemetery at 10:00am on Friday, July 13th. www.bakersfield.com/obits
