Judy was born to Margery and Neil Brown in Denver, Colorado. Judy shared many childhood memories of growing up in Meeker, Colorado and the wonderful years that she spent growing up with her grandparents on a farm in Frankfort, South Dakota. She loved Colorado right down to their football team. Go Broncos!
Growing up she was very active in her high school band. Her love for music continued throughout her life. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines and later a devout follower. She loved barbershop, old country, and Anne Murray which she loved to share with those around her.
Judy graduated from the University of Northern Colorado. She was then recruited to teach in California where she retired from the Bakersfield City School District after 35 years. She was loved by her students and faculty, and cultivated many lifelong friendships throughout her career.
She is survived by her brother Joe, her uncle Paul McCoy, and cousins Darlene Tompkins, Joan Scrogham, Diane Eickhoff, Max Corning, Nina McCoy, Mike McCoy, Kathleen Mathson, and Linda McCoy; and of course many "sisters" and friends that made up her family in Bakersfield. Judy was a generous and giving soul. We will miss her love and wisdom. We will miss you "Mama Bear" and are so sad you left so quickly.
There will be a celebration of life held on May 22nd at 12PM at 1101 Princeton Ave. 93305.
