June Marie Stevens Obituary
June Marie Stevens November 6th, 1934 - March 24th 2013 June Marie Stevens, 78, passed away, March 24th 2013, at Corinthian Gardens in Bakersfield CA. Services will be held at Greenlawn Chapel, 3700 River Blvd. Wed. March 27th at 2:00pm. June was born on November 6th, 1934 in Kansas City, Mo. to William & Ruth Howell. After losing her father at a young age to pneumonia, Charles Roberts became her loving step-father, better known as "Daddy Jakes." She could do no wrong in his eyes, for she was his little princess. In high school, she met her sweetheart & soul mate to be, Earl F. Stevens & became known as his Suzy Q. On June 26th, 1952, with Daddy Jakes approval, she & her sweetheart were married! She gave birth to three children: Glenn, Deborah, & Clifford, always encouraging & pushing them to go as far with their gifts as they possibly could go. As a homemaker, she was extremely creative; sewing clothes, making delicious home cooked meals, decorating cakes for all kinds of celebrations, & decorating the house. One time, she & her sweetheart, were invited to march in the Christmas Parade. So she went to work, creating the most creative costumes for both of them to wear. When it was time for them to march in the parade, Raggedy Ann & Andy were seen proudly marching down the street, waving to everyone, their toy dog following close behind, yapping all the way! She always went far & beyond anything anyone could ask of her. Her purpose in life was to give of herself by pouring into those all around her. Her life spoke for itself. For many years, she used her book keeping skills to help support her husband in his trash business till the day she discovered her true calling. When that happened, she jumped in with both feet! She worked for more than twenty-five years as a Real Estate Agent. First for Century 21 Minner Realty & later for Watson Realty Company, she thrived at what she did & loved the people she worked with and for. She would proudly advertise: "The Real Estate Professional Who makes 'You' #1" and "Call June Stevens For Service You Will Remember." She lived, ate & breathed her job until the day she had no more to give. During her time as a Real Estate Agent , she was honored often by her peers and her clients frequently noted her excellent service and at least one proclaimed her "the best Realtor in the city of Bakersfield." June is survived by her loving husband, Earl F Stevens, of more than 60 years, her daughter, Deborah Stevens of Reseda CA., her son, Glenn Stevens & his wife Shelly, & their sons, Jonathan & Samuel of Brookline Massachusetts. She is also survived by her son, Clifford Stevens & his wife, Judie & their two daughters, Hannah & Carly of Stockton CA. She is also survived by a much loved brother, William Howell of Tarzana CA. & many loving nieces & nephews. Today, we celebrate her homecoming, thankful that she is in a place of rest & no longer suffering. Today, she celebrates with those who went home to heaven before her. Someday, we will see her again as we walk through the gates of glory into the Lord's loving arms. There, with our Saviour, she'll be waiting to welcome us home! www.bakersfield.com/obits
