KATHRYN ELIZABETH ROOT HOLDERMAN Obituary
Kathryn Elizabeth Root Holderman was born in McFarland, CA on December 18, 1924 to Walter and Wilma Root. She went home to be with the Lord, at the age of 91, on September 19, 2016.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Holderman, her son, Dwight Holderman, her parents, Walter and Wilma Root and her brother, Clarence Root. Her parents were founding members of the McFarland Church of The Brethren where Kathryn was the organist for many years. Kathryn attended La Verne College in southern California where she earned her bachelor of arts degree and taught briefly at the elementary school in McFarland.
During the WWII era, Kathryn was serving as a volunteer with The Brethren Volunteer Services in New Windsor, Maryland. There, she met her future husband who was serving with the Merchant Marines. They were married on December 29, 1946. They were married for 59 years and blessed with five children. Beloved sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother.
Kathryn is survived by her sister, Barbara (Larry) Stremikis of Charlottesville, VA, son, Douglas (Sheila) Holderman of Tracy, CA, daughter, Carol Beattie of Waterford, CA, son, Duane (Wanda) Holderman of Clovis, CA and son, Darryl (Anita) Holderman of Bakersfield CA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Kathryn's funeral service will be held at The Church of The Living Savior in McFarland on Monday, September 26th, 2016 at 10:30a.m Viewing prior  to service. All memorial funds to The Church of The Living Savior. Her final resting place will be next to her husband at the North Kern District Cemetery in Delano after the service.
She found joy in the Lord and happiness with her family. She was a loving daughter of the Most High and will be greatly missed.
