Kathryn "Patsy" Mays Rice March 20, 1927 - February 15, 2013 Patsy was born in Long Beach, California to William F. and Jewell Higgins and passed away in Sacramento, California. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She is pedeceased by her parents William F. and Jewell Higgins; her husband Ben Reagon Mays; her infant son Mitchell Reagon Mays; and her sisters Nell Parsons, Cherie Fowler and Joy Kettenburg. Patsy graduated from Kern County Union High School where she met her childhood sweetheart Ben Mays. They were married shortly after graduating. They had two children, Kathryn Mays and Mitchell Mays. Patsy married Gene Rice in 1971 and was happy to gain another daughter Sandra Rice. She and Gene lived in Bakersfield, Houston, Los Angeles, Grass Valley, Santa Maria and Sacramento. They took several cruises with friends and also traveled extensively in their RV visiting most of the states. She loved travelling in the RV. Patsy was an excellent cook and enjoyed working in her yard. She was an accomplished artist with oil paintings and was able to sell painting and also commissioned to do paintings. Patsy is survived by her husband Gene Rice; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Skip Blake, daughter and son-in-law Sandie ans Devin Arguello; grandchildren Lisa Maltibie and husband Bob, Ben Blake and wife Jeanne; great grandchildren Holly Maltibie, Caitlin Maltibie and Max Blake; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lurene and Jim Smith. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much. Patsy will always be remembered for her kindness and her wonderful sense of humor.
