Kenneth Randall Purdue Obituary
Kenneth Purdue 93 was born in Sanford Florida to Albert and Eva Purdue. Ken was playing semi-pro Basketball until 1942 when he received an Induction Letter from the Draft Board to join the Army. Ken was a seaman at heart and went down and joined the Navy immediately. Within 21 days he shipped out to Norfolk. Ken fought in WWII in Guadalcanal.
When dad got home from the war he married and had a son Randy Purdue. Later on he married Lorraine Doughty who had two children, David and Michael Hughes. They then adopted two more children, Tim and Kerrie Purdue making for a lovely blended family.
Ken worked for The Local 250, Steamfitter and Pipefitter Union and worked there for 25 Years until he retired at 55 and moved the family to Atascadero, CA. After retirement Ken and Lorraine bought a nut store in Atascadero. Ken resided in Bakersfield the last 10 years but also spent a short stint living in Paso Robles and Fresno.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, son Randy Purdue, grandson Robert Loeber III and Stepson David Hughes. Ken is survived by his daughter Kerrie (Gary) and son Tim (Elma), one stepson, Mike (Carla), and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
We would like to send a special thanks to Chris and Marissa at Optimal Hospice and all the staff at Paradise Gardens for making my dad feel special in the last chapter of his life.
Services will be held at The National Cemetery on Friday August 14th at 12:30.
