Kent Douglas Vorhees, age 58, passed away peacefully in Bakersfield, California on August 7, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. Kent was born in Bakersfield, California on December 26, 1956 to Samuel and Irene Vorhees. He was the youngest of four children. Kent was preceded by his parents, Sam and Irene.
Kent grew up in Bakersfield, attending Catholic schools, and graduating from Garces Memorial High School in 1975. He valued the life-long friendships he had with his classmates and loved to laugh and share stories about the great times they had. After high school, Kent worked mostly in construction related jobs in Bakersfield and then worked for WA Thompson and Jennings Transfer and Storage for many years.
He married Cheryl Wallace (Vorhees) in 1981, and together they had two sons, Jared and Bret Vorhees. The family moved to Oregon in August of 1993. Kent was employed with Metro Machinery Rigging for 16 years.
Kent is survived by his two sons, Jared and Bret Vorhees; their mother, Cheryl Vorhees; daughters-in-law Heather Vorhees and Allie Vorhees; grandson, Chase Vorhees; siblings Vicki Vorhees, and her children and respective families, Tracy, Shelly, Tim, and Lisa; Mike Vorhees, his wife, Katy, and their children and respective families, Matt, Tom, and Bridget; Tim Vorhees, his wife, Janet, and their children and respective families, Jason and Nick; in-laws Schuyler and Carol Wallace; Sky and Kari Wallace, and their children, Schuyler and Evan; and Laura Wallace and Kenny Slate, and their children and respective families , Natasha, Nichole, and Naomi.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Bakersfield, California on October 10, 2015.
