Kenzie Eugene Beurmann III 1934 - 2012 Kenzie Eugene "Bud" Beurmann III was born on June 26, 1934 at home in Lansing, Michigan to Kenzie Eugene Beurmann II and Louise Irene Cook. He was the oldest of five siblings. Bud lived in Lansing and then moved to Holt, Michigan. He graduated from Holt High School in 1952. He moved to California and played football and basketball at Taft College and graduated with his AA in 1954. Bud was in the US Navy from 1955-1959. He was stationed at the Naval Training Center and played on their football team. He was then stationed at the Federal Office Building in San Francisco, on the USS Hamel and at the Long Beach Naval Station. In 1955 he married Shirley Ruth Blackmon after meeting at Taft College, he the football star, she the cheerleader. They were married for 42 wonderful years until her death in 1997. Together they raised four children. They made their home in Bakersfield where Bud joined National Life Insurance Company/American General as an agent and then a Sales Manager and District Manager. He worked there from 1959 until his retirement in 1991. In 1999 Bud found love again and married Betty Howlett and this union brought together 8 children, 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He loved his new family like his own. Bud had such a zest for life and was able to enjoy numerous trips overseas with National Life and later in life with Betty. He loved to sail, golf, do woodwork, stained glass work and paint, and, he could fix anything that was broken! He was an honest man full of integrity and he strongly believed in staying out of debt and not giving advice unless asked for it. He was fortunate to have found true love twice in his life and was married a total 55 years. He was a strong believer in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and recently became a Catholic. We will never forget our father and his wonderful jokes and words of wisdom. He loved to make people laugh and if they didn't then he would try harder! He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. Bud was preceded in death by his parents Kenzie and Louise, a brother Charles, sister Janet and wife Shirley. He is survived by his wife Betty, sisters Virginia Cassidy and Char Wallace (Ray), children Kenzie IV "Bud" Beurmann (Lyn), Sheryl Cabral (Fred), Renee Varner (Steve) and Jamie Padilla (Joe Dillon), stepchildren John Howlett (Debbie), LeeAnn Bergen (Stan), Laurie Price (Mark), David Howlett (Shelly), 21 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved and faithful dog Blue. May you rest in peace dad and know that your time on earth was well spent, and, it was certainly a job well done! We will love you forever!
