1961 - 2016 Obituary Condolences Gallery
Kevin L. DeBondt was born July 29, 1961, in Sioux City, Iowa, to AlmaJean DeBondt and Bernard "Bud" DeBondt. He grew up with his three brothers, Larry, Dennis, and Michael Todd, fishing and playing sports in Mexico, MO. He attended the University of Rolla, MO, where he played baseball and graduated as a petroleum engineer. Later he moved to California, where he met and fell in love with Deanna Serban. They had six children: Ashleymarie, Christopher Lee, Michael Thomas, Matthew James, and two of which he joined in Heaven, Dominic Joseph and Mary Elizabeth.
He was a small business owner of Environmental Sound Solutions Inc. (E.S.S.I.) and took part in running the Bakersfield Business Conference for many years with his father-in-law, George Serban. Kevin was an avid Baseball Man, Dodger fan, skilled fisherman, willing volunteer sound master at St. Francis Church, mentor and volunteer to Boy Scout Troop 125, a damn good dad, family man, and a loving husband. His heart of gold, contagious smile, and humble demeanor will be missed by his wife, children, and community.
The family wants to encourage all who are able to attend Kevin's Funeral Mass and graveside to wear a bit of Dodger Blue (no jerseys or hats) in memory of his love for baseball. There will also be a Rosary the night before. All are welcome to come, pray, and remember Kevin with his family. Rosary will be at St. Francis Church (900 South H) on Sept. 16th at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at St. Francis Church on Sept. 17th at 12 p.m. The graveside service will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park (3700 River Blvd.) after the Mass and also will be followed by a reception back at St. Francis.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SFC A Little Joyful Noise Ensemble and Children's Choir by going to the church website at stfran.org.
