Konner Owen Hedlund Obituary
After many challenges and victories, Konner earned his angel wings on November 19, 2015 with his family by his side. His courageous spirit and infectious, happy smile was always in place despite the many challenges he faced in his short life. Though Konner lived with multiple challenges, you would never know it because he seemed to appreciate life so much more than anyone else around him. He was never left behind when his brothers, sisters and cousins were engaged in activities. His family always made sure he was included in all activities; going to the beach, the snow, the lake, amusement parks, and every other outing with all the other kids. He was curious and fearless, and most often the first in line for any new adventure. His life may have been short but it was full in that he stayed busy going to school and attending his after school program, spending time with his grandparents, watching Peppa Pig and
drinking Dr. Pepper.
Konner deeply loved his brothers and sisters, often referring to them as 'his kids.' Through multiple hospitalizations, his mother was always by his side making sure all his needs were met. He was well supported by the doctors, nurses and staff at UCSF, or the 'playroom hospital' as he called it, who have known him all his life.
Konner is survived by his loving mother, Ashley Bell and her partner, Tyler Gardea; his father, Kenneth Hedlund and wife Jennifer Hedlund; his brothers, Tristan and Liam, and sisters, Kennity and Londyn; his grandparents Tim and Tisha Shofner and Sandy Hedlund; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as countless friends and supporters. He was preceded in death by his uncle Tucker Bell and many of his young friends from UCSF.
A special thanks to all doctors, nurses and staff at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital for the love, care and support they provided to Konner as well as his mother.
Memorial services will be held at Ridgeview Community Church (8420 Stine Road, Bakersfield, CA 93313) on Saturday, December 5th at 11:00 a.m. His family invites you to attend a reception celebrating his life immediately following the service.
