Lawrence Allen (Larry) Kurtze April 7, 1945 - September 2, 2012 Larry was born in Junction City, Kansas, to Lawrence and Georgia Kurtze. He was the second of five children. He attended high school at Righetti High in Santa Maria, CA. After moving to Kern County, he worked as a security guard patrolling the oilfields for approximately 14 years. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence A. Kurtze, and his nephew, Jason Robinette. He married Amelia (Annie) Tamayo on April 6, 1996. Annie brought into the marriage three beautiful children, whom Larry loved as if they were his own. Larry loved family history; he did all kinds of research on the Kurtze family background. He also loved playing Farmville on Facebook. He was a big movie buff; his favorites were the old time movies. His favorite singer was Elvis Presley. Larry is survived by his mother, Georgia Kurtze; wife, Annie; sons, William T. Tamayo and Harry T. Tamayo; daughter, Hazel A. Tamayo; grandson, Zackary W. Tamayo; sisters, Joyce and husband, Will, Judy and husband, Ray; sister and best friend, Patricia; and brother, Randy and wife, Joann; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and -nephews. A special thank you to all the nurses in ICU at San Joaquin Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to our loved one. You will always be in our hearts and prayers for the work you do. Larry did have two of his children with him when he passed. I hope they know how much that meant to him. Thank you, Harry and Hazel, for being there with him. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 10, from 4-7 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane.
