Lawton R. Powers September 03, 1940 - May 31, 2013 Lawton Powers passed away peacefully at home Friday May 31, 2013, from a long illness with his loving wife Aloma at his side. Lawton was born September 3, 1940 in Bakersfield California to Virginia and Stanley Powers. He attended local schools and graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1958 where he was Junior Class President and Student Body President. It was while he was attending BHS he was invited to a dance by Aloma Bonny, whom he later married on June 21, 1959. They would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary later this month. Lawton began a career in residential real estate in 1960. In 1964 he partnered with Dean Gay in Watson Realty until 1970. It was at this time he formed his own commercial real estate co., Lawton Powers Inc. He continued to be involved in this business until the time of his death. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Aloma; sons Darren and Warren; daughter in law Carolyn; and grandchildren Taryn, Ross and Paige. He is also survived by his brother Norvin (Charlene) and sister Joy Kirschenmann; father in law Glendale Bonny (Joan); and sister in law Glenna Pearce. Lawton is preceded in death by his parents; mother in law Lillie Bonny; brother in law Arnold Kirschenmann; and great-nephew Brock Bellue. A memorial service in Lawton's honor will be held Friday June 7, 2013, 9:30 a.m., Celebration of Life Center at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary. His family would like to thank the care givers of Interim Care for their kind service, especially Sandra, Bertha and Daniela.
