Lenore Beshears Pounds 09/08/1932 - 11/28/2013 Lenore Pounds was born Florence Lenore Beshears on September 8, 1932 in Bakersfield, California to Orba and Florence Beshears. She grew up in a loving home in Oildale and graduated from Kern County Union High School in 1950. She passed away peacefully at home on November 28, 2013. Lenore was a hard worker and was dedicated to her family. She liked to travel to be with family which was mostly fun and always memorable. Her 80th birthday was celebrated in Sequoia National Forest. Her family adventures include being stuck in a North Dakota blizzard on I-94 and being stranded in the Grand Canyon. She liked to research family history and she was the historian for family letters dating to the early 1900s. Lenore was an avid reader, liked to knit, had a green thumb, had a passion for animal welfare, and especially loved cats. She made the best pancakes ever! Lenore is preceded in death by both of her parents, her son, Martin Pounds, and her baby daughter, Denise Pounds. Her surviving children are Eileen Kreisle, Dennis Pounds, Claire Lahorgue, and their families. Celebration of life services will be held Saturday, December 14, at Greenlawn Cemetery at 3700 River Blvd at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to First United Methodist Church, 4600 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93309, or in her memory. www.bakersfield.com/obits
