Leopoldo C. Mendoza Sr. was born in Pulo, San Rafael, Bulacan, Philippines, to Dominador and Concordia Mendoza. He went to his eternal resting place at the age of 66 on Tuesday afternoon, April 19, 2016.
He graduated as Valedictorian from Gregorio Perfecto High School in 1965 and received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology in 1970.
Leopoldo married Gloria Ruiz in Quezon City in September 1976 and moved to Bakersfield in 1977. He was an inspector and metrologist for Kern County Department of Agriculture/Weights and Measures for 25 years. He retired in 2010.
Leopoldo is survived by his wife of 39 years; son (Leopoldo Jr.), daughter (Marie), five grandchildren (Ethan, Connor, Nicole, Grace and Kate), and two sisters (Victoria Mendoza and Consolacion Austria).
Leopoldo was a devoted father and husband and leaves behind a close family who loved him dearly. All will miss his thoughtfulness, charm, intelligence, and his singing.
Services honoring Leopoldo's life will be held at Greenlawn Southwest in the Celebration of Life Center, 2739 Panama Lane, on Tuesday, April 26. Visitation is scheduled from 8 - 10 and Christian chapel service at 10 a.m.
