Leroy Kinkaid Obituary

Leroy D. Kinkaid "Lee" June 30, 1952 - September 5, 2010 Leroy was born in Bakersfield and has resided here for most of his life. He graduated from East Bakersfield High and went on to Bakersfield College to study carpentry. Leroy and his father built radio control planes and boats. They went to meets from Portland, Oregon to San Diego. They were most successful with boats. Leroy was married to Patti Lynn Moss for 19 years. He worked for Robert Moss Architectural Specialties for 30 years. After retiring, he enjoyed riding with friends on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. These rides included Salvation Army, Red Cross, Food Bank, Toys for Tots, several rides to help open the new Veterans Cemetery at the foot of Bear Mountain, and special rides for friends who needed help. Leroy also donated blood to Houchin Blood Bank. Preceded in death by first wife, Patti Lynn; second wife (7 years) Margaret LaTaine; father, Tanton L.; brother, Harry "Korky"; grandparents, Harry and Gladys Haney and Roy and Elsie Kinkaid. Survivors include his mother, Florence; sister, Judy and husband Erhart Hirschfelder; nephew, Rick Jones and wife Andrea and son Kyle; niece, Shelly Reinsel and sons Lance, Travis and Shawn; and a special friend, Janice. Graveside services only at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, led by Pastor Larry Wood of Valley Baptist Church on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 11:00 a.m. www.bakersfield.com/obits
