Lois Pond McCravey

Lois Pond McCravey Obituary
Lois Pond McCravey was born in Taft, California on January 2, 1930. On February 2, 2014 she joined her twin sister, Doris (Pond) Lewis, who preceded her in death on February 20, 2013. Her parents, sisters Jeanne and Lorraine, along with many other
beloved relatives and friends welcomed her to heaven. Henry and Rose Pond with their daughters, Jeanne and Lorraine, were surprised to welcome identical twins, Doris and Lois, to their family. The four sisters excelled in academic life in Taft. Lois and Doris were co-valedictorians, graduating with honors from Taft High School in 1947.
Lois married Lloyd "Mac" McCravey in 1947. During their 68 year marriage, they loved their "children," eight wonderful boxer dogs, Thor, Thor II, Eric, Schatzie, Toxie, Coco, Ginger and Candy Cane. Lois leaves behind her husband, Lloyd, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and Candy Cane McCravey, her surviving boxer. Lois worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Ford Garage in Taft and Haberfelde Ford in Bakersfield. In her forties, she had a burning desire to finish her education and graduated from Fresno State University with a teaching credential in elementary and secondary school. She taught fifth grade children at Fairview School. In later years, she worked in the Purchasing Department for California State University Bakersfield until her retirement.
Lois' love for travel began when she was a young girl, living for one year with a German family in Germany while her husband was stationed there while serving in the military. She and her husband continued their travels through Europe, the Middle East, Mexico and Tahiti with their traveling companions, the Morgans, the Lewises, the Sanfords and the Gaithers.
