Loletta "Faye" Harris Obituary
Loletta "Faye" Harris 1934 - 2013 Loletta "Faye" Harris, 78, passed away March 30, 2013 at her home in Bakersfield, CA. She was born in Wapanucka, Oklahoma on November 4, 1934 to the late Monroe (Cub) and Mamie Maytubby. She grew up in Wapanucka and moved to Lamont, CA with her parents in 1946. She attended Arvin High School and was among the first graduating class in 1952. Faye was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Wade Harris; her daughter, Twila Cota; son-in-law, Jackie Cota; and her sister, Willie Mae Maytubby. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Gerald Quinn; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Karen Harris; and her daughter, Monica Ward. Faye's joy was her family including her grandchildren, Stacey Gonzalez and husband Matthew; Stephen Harris and wife Lacie; Kelly Cota; and Chad Harris. She was also blessed with four great grandchildren, Lauren, Katie, Paisley and Ethan. She also is survived by numerous cousins, all of whom she cherished; sisters-in-law, Frances Weldon, Opal Cravey, Brenda Glover and husband Lance; along with their families. Faye was of Chickasaw decent and was very proud of her Indian Heritage. She lived most of her adult life in Lamont, CA and was a faithful member of Maranatha Southern Baptist Church for many years. During her adult years she enjoyed oil painting and traveling. But her main focus was always her family and she enjoyed being involved in their lives. She was very family-oriented and loved her family dearly. She will be genuinely missed by all those who knew her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pat Roberts for his prayers and friendship, and to Isabelo, Trinadad and Olivia of Optimal Hospice. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3, from 4-8 p.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary. Services will be held Thursday, April 4, at 11 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park. www.bakersfield.com/obits
