Our dad, Lorenzo Munoz, went home to be with his Lord on May 6, 2016, at the age of 87. He was born in Artesia, New Mexico, to Epitacio and Juliana Munoz on August 10, 1928.
He left his hometown of Dexter, New Mexico, at the age of 16 to move to California, where he worked as a tractor driver in the San Joaquin Valley. In 1971 he relocated from Union City to Lamont, where he became the owner of the Blue Note and Blue Star (bar and restaurant) before retiring. Dad loved collecting and restoring classic cars. He enjoyed traveling and going to the casinos. He regularly attended the senior citizens center, where he had many friends. He also enjoyed carpentry work.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; sons, Larry, Socorro, and Arturo; daughters, Rosemary Barajas and Laura Lovett; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be forever remembered and missed by all.
Viewing is scheduled for May 15, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., at Greenlawn Funeral Home Southwest, located at 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield; and Mass service on May 16, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Saint Augustine's Catholic Church in Lamont.
