Louis Ocker Obituary

Louis Ocker April 8, 1920 - November 6, 2009 Louis was born in New York City on April 8, 1920. He went to San Angelo, Texas and was adopted by Otto Ocker and Minnie Hoelscher. The family lived in Olfin and San Angelo, Texas. They were a farming family. Shortly after WWII started Louis and a bunch of cousins went to San Diego, CA to support the war effort by working in an aircraft factory. There he met his first love, Laura Bell Kirk. They were married in July 1946 in San Diego, for the next 50 years lived in Moorpark, CA. He adopted Laura's son, Lyman Earl Ocker. Louis ran an auto repair shop. Also worked for Ford Motor Company. Laura died in 1995. Louis knew Susan and they got married in April 1996. They travelled the world and had a great time. Louis loved seeing all the new places and eating new food. Louis was dearly loved by Susan's family who accepted him with open arms: Grace Kenchiova, Anita Garrett, William Stricklen, Elaine Summerhays. There are 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren: Tracy Ocker, son of Earl Ocker and Betty Whitney, Louis' grandson, lives in Bakersfield, ever faithful in visiting his grandfather every Thursday and Louis looked forward to these visits. Preceding Louis in death is Laura, his first wife; Lyman Earl Ocker, his son; Todd Ocker, his grandson. Survivors include his wife, Susan Ocker; Tracy Ocker, Grace, Anita, Wm., Elaine; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. We would like to thank Grace Kenchiova for giving Louis 3 months of great care. Also want to thank Odyssey Hospice and Mercy Hospice for all the wonderful care they gave him. There will be no service at Louis' request. Instead of flowers, please send donations to the LDS Mission Fund, c/o President Kirk Russell, 5600 Panorama Dr., Bakersfield, CA 93306.
