Lucy Henriete Ahl January 4, 1927 ~ November 27, 2011 Lucy was born in Mairie De Lavau, France, on January 4, 1927, to parents Jules Victor LeBlanc and Julie Judith Hermann LeBlanc, both also natives of France. She came to the U.S.A. as a war bride in 1947 with her first child, Jenny Floyd, in her arms. Lucy moved to several states and had her second daughter, Kathy Floyd, in Oklahoma, and then her son, Gene W. Floyd, in Texas. Lucy finally ended up in Bakersfield in 1957. Lucy is survived by her husband, Daniel L. Ahl; daughter, Jenny and Jim Turner of Lamar, TX; son, Gene W. Floyd of Bakersfield; grandsons, Mike and Tracy Vanderlie of Bakersfield, Larry Klinge of Texas, and Jason Fore of Bakersfield; granddaughter, Jennette and JR. Montano of Bakersfield; great- granddaughters, Samantha Klinge and Nick, and Taylor Medina, all of Bakersfield; great-grandson, Brenton Vanderlie and Braden Fore, both of Bakersfield; sister, Fernande Bitton of France; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins in France. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Ralph and Dedre Ahl of Bakersfield; sister-in-law, Darlene Wood of Bakersfield; very special friend, Christine Puttman of Texas, who came to the U.S.A. with Lucy in 1947, but remained close friends and stayed in contact all these years; and close friends, Davis and Lucy Chipp, John and Marty Boheman, Mary Rodriges and Dan, Gina Pomato and her sons, Gabriel and Justin, all of Bakersfield; and all the Montano family, Darrell and Audry Turner of Aztec, NM, and Joe and Jan Orman of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Fore. Lucy worked many jobs to support her family before meeting her husband, Dan, in 1962. She worked as a cook in the fast food business, cleaned houses, washed and ironed clothes for many families, and cleaned motel rooms to survive, sometimes working two and three jobs a day. Dan and Lucy were married just short of 48 years but were together for 50 years. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. For condolences please visit www.greenlawnmortuaryandcemetery.com.
