Lydia (Ochoa) Martinez Rodriguez Obituary
Lydia passed away peacefully after a brief illness, at the age of 92. She was born in Bakersfield, Ca to Luis and Candelaria Martinez. She attended local schools and graduated college at a later age to pursue a career in teaching.
For many years, she taught CCD at San Clemente Mission Church and was a longtime parishioner. She also was a lifetime member of the VFW #7216 Auxiliary, even served as a secretary, treasurer and president. She also was a treasurer at Sociedad Progressia Mexicana Logia #40. She was a devoted grandmother to Ashley and Regan Rypkema.
She is preceded in death by her sons Benjamin and Timothy.
She is survived by sons Johnny (Silvia) Rodriguez, Joseph (Bonnie) Vasquez, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild
We'll miss her feistiness, long talks, quick comebacks and her smile.
Special thanks to her son Johnny, who was always there to the end, Thank you to her roommate, Jeanie, who always kept a watchful eye. And thank you to her 24-hr caregivers: Frankie, Ashley, Regan, Jon Jon and Yvonne.
Viewing will be held December 9th, 4-6 p.m. and Rosary at 6 p.m., at Greenlawn, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield, CA 93305. Funeral will be held December 10th, 10 a.m., at San Clemente Mission, 1305 Water St, Bakersfield, CA. Graveside service to follow at Greenlawn.
