Lynda Fern (Broyles) Young Obituary
Lynda was born in Alma, Arkansas to Ellis C. and Verona Mae Broyles on October 31, 1942. Lynda went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2014. Her family moved to Arvin, California in late 1943. Lynda attended Sunset and Vineland Elementary Schools and Arvin High School graduating in 1960. It was that year that she received a Superior Award for the California State Choir of which she was very proud. She attended Bakersfield College and Pt. Loma Nazarene University (formerly Pasadena College) studying for a degree in Child Development and Education. While at Pt. Loma she met and married Gary Young in 1965. Over the next 49 years, they enjoyed countless trips to some of their favorite destinations, many hours filled with friends, music and laughter, and two wonderful children. Lynda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a wonderful homemaker. She eventually worked in the business world for Bank of America, Baker Welding Supply, and Tosco Oil. Lynda was very active in her church and enjoyed Balcony Women and Ladies Bible studies.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tony Broyles. She leaves behind her husband, Gary, daughter Ami Maranto, son Joel Young and wife Angela, and six grandchildren: Breanne, Joseph, Jared, Jaxon, Jasen, and Jynna. She will also be missed by her loving sisters in-law Jan Whitehead and Linda Anselm, brother-in-law Joe Young, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Emmanuel Strategos and assistant Dawn, Yolanda of Interim Home Health Care, and the wonderful staff at Hoffmann Hospice for their love and care of Lynda.
