Madeline Meyer Obituary

Madeline DeLucia Meyer 1942 - 2010 Madeline was born on December 10, 1942 and went to be with Jesus on September 17, 2010 after battling cancer for more than four years. She is survived by her children, Bryan and his wife Kathleen, Michelle and her husband Daniel, and her six grandchildren, Anne, Matthew, Joshua, Payton, Conrad and Wyatt. Madeline spent her childhood in Connecticut and lived in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Tennessee as an adult. Bakersfield has been her home for the past 30 years. Madeline was a speech pathologist in public schools for more than 40 years. She also had a second and simultaneous career as a Marriage Family and Child Counselor. Madeline enjoyed gardening and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed spending time in God's creation whether it be at the beach, in the mountains or even at the park. She loved to spend time with her family, her loving and loyal dog, Cole, and her many loving and faithful friends. Her family would like to thank Madeline's many, many friends who have loved and cared for her so very much. You all have truly been family to her. We would like to also thank her many competent doctors and Hoffmann Hospice. She will be missed by many, but we are grateful that she is now at peace. Service will be held on Thursday, September 23, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis Parish, 900 H Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American School of Dog Obedience for their canine rescue efforts. www.bakersfield.com/obits

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So, he put his arms around you and wispered "come with me". (author unknown) I already miss you my dear friend.

Madeline was a sweet, loving, caring, kind, and considerate woman. Her resilience was unsurpassed. I will miss her beautiful smile. She had the most gorgeous head of hair! I always meant to tell her that. Whenever we spoke, Madeline never failed to remind me how much she loved working as a speech pathologist for the Kern High School District. Her skills as a speech pathologist were a gift to her students. I will miss her terribly.
My thoughts are with her children and grandchildren who she always talked about with love and pride.

Madeline was such a sweet and loving woman who added a grace and kindness to the Women Of Hope support group. She was always interested and concerned about others over herself. We will miss her.
